Indoor Air Quality
Tips and strategies for maintaining healthy indoor air quality year-round.
Sick Building Syndrome
Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) describes a condition where building occupants experience acute health issues—headaches, fatigue, dizziness, respiratory irritation, and difficulty concentrating—that appear linked to time spent indoors but have no specific identifiable cause. Poor ventilation, mold contamination, volatile organic compounds, and accumulated dust are common contributors. Symptoms typically improve once individuals leave the affected space. In coastal and humid climates like Mexico's, mold growth in HVAC systems and hidden wall cavities often plays a significant role. Addressing indoor air quality through proper inspection and remediation is essential for restoring occupant health and comfort.
Regular HVAC Filter Exchange
Your HVAC filters are the first line of defense against airborne contaminants. Clogged or dirty filters reduce airflow, force your system to work harder, and allow dust, allergens, and mold spores to circulate freely. In humid climates, neglected filters can also trap moisture, becoming a breeding ground for mold. Replace filters every 1–3 months depending on usage, and consider upgrading to HEPA-rated filters for superior particle capture.
